Leisure pool to close for essential work

Dudley Council has confirmed the leisure pool at Crystal Leisure Centre will close for five days next week, to undertake essential maintenance work.

The pool will be closed from Monday 17 to Friday 21 October with facilities expected to reopen as normal from Saturday 22 October, in time for the weekend and half term when free swimming will be available for children who live in the borough.

All other facilities at the centre, including the 25m lane swimming pool, will remain open as normal throughout.

Councillor Simon Phipps, cabinet member for economic regeneration and enterprise, said:

"The leisure pool will undergo important works next week and we do need to close the pool while this is carried out.
"Some of the equipment dates back 20 years or so and will obviously need regular attention to ensure this great facility remains popular with people across the Black Country. We’ve tried to ensure we do this work at quieter times to lessen the impact on customers.
"We apologise for any inconvenience and look forward to welcoming people back to the leisure pool once we have reopened when children can enjoy the free swimming we offer every school holiday."
